- The restrained decorative scheme of panels is inspired by both Swedish (Gustavian), & Russian Neoclassicism.
- The palette of cool pale blue-grey walls & warm golden-yellow fabric was inspired by the Corner Drawing Room at Pavlovsk; decorated by Carlo Rossi for Alexander I in 1816 (in which the blue-grey panels are marbled & highly polished).
